Hello and Welcome to my pages on the internet
It was in 1962 that I saw my first pair of Akitas. They were in a shopping center being socialized by their owners. They were quite young.
The breed was in its infancy in the USA at the time and I never saw another Akita anywhere until two years later. There was an advert in the paper for an Akita litter, the Sire and Dam of the litter just happened to be the pair I saw as youngsters two years earlier.
I bought a male from that litter and from that very moment, my heart fused with the Akita. I was "hooked".
I established my kennel and name, Kofuku-No Akitas, in 1964 and have been a devoted student and friend of the Akita ever since. I have always, and will continue to do all I can to help and protect this wonderful breed.

"Victor"
Pictured with his breeder / owner Dr Sophia Kaluzniaki after judging was completed at Crufts, UK 1990. Victor made history by being awarded the very first CC available to the breed in the UK and was also BOB.

HRH Prince Michael Of Kent graced the breed ring at Crufts and met an Akita and a pair of American enthusiasts for the first time. Whoever would have guessed that a “Royal Command Performance” would be on the cards for us!
How could I possibly have a website of my proudest moments without mention of my wonderful family. I am so proud of them, I hardly know where to begin. My Grandson 'Sean Michael' is pictured below with my Son 'Bill', Daughter in Law 'Tina' and Grandaughter 'Sarah'.
